Since 1999 ACIFA has awarded an Innovation in Teaching Award through the generous sponsorship of MORGEX Insurance Group Ltd.. Faculty Associations are notified early in the fall about the upcoming year’s award and provided with an outline of how it works.

The award is administered according to a system launched in 2003, as follows:

1. Each local faculty association will hold a nomination and selection process at their institution for the Innovation in Teaching Award and select a single winner to be put forward by the Association to ACIFA.
2. Selection at the local level must be completed by February 20th so the next step can be completed by mid-March.
3. A committee struck from the Professional Affairs Committee of ACIFA then considers the nominations put forward by the local associations to select a provincial winner and three runners-up.
4. The recipient receives an award of $1500 and their association $500.00

To make this process work, the assistance of each Faculty Association is required in establishing a promotion and selection process at their institution in order to give their faculty the opportunity to participate in this award.
