Join us in Canmore

Who Are You? is this year’s ACIFA Spring Conference theme, and it most appropriately captures the issues and opportunities arising from the constantly changing landscape on which those involved in the post-secondary education sector find themselves. From changing demographics in the post-secondary teaching profession and the student body to emerging powerbrokers in academic governance and labour negotiations, this conference seeks to show the interconnections between members of the post-secondary community and their environment––the post-secondary education system.
The Lethbridge College Faculty Association will host the 2007 Spring Conference in the beautiful, mountainous resort town of Canmore, Alberta, at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Centre. The conference program will feature events, activities, and sessions from May 27 to May 30.
The Annual ACIFA Spring Conference offers a uniquely valuable opportunity for individual faculty members from across the province to assemble and interact with one another. Throughout the conference, attendees will participate in sessions and activities to learn more about teaching techniques, professional development initiatives, and academic staff employment conditions.
Since the conference is hosted in one of Canada’s most picturesque regions––the Rocky Mountains–– the program features numerous opportunities for participants to socialize and network with their peers through organized leisurely and social activities in the great outdoors. For those who believe the outdoors are for the bears, the conference program also includes indoor activities for unwinding and socializing with other participants.
The conference’s musical lineup is already looking very promising. Lethbridge native Darwin Romanchuk is bringing his band to entertain conference participants on the Monday evening, and on the following evening, a Caribbean-themed steel band will no doubt carry audience members’ thoughts to a sun-drenched tropical island.
