Plan to join your colleagues from around the province to attend this enriching professional development event in the relaxed and refreshing setting of the majestic Canadian Rockies.


Keynote speaker

  • On Monday morning, following breakfast, at the Jasper Activity Centre.
Maude Barlow speaking on education










Maude Barlow is the National Chairperson of The Council of Canadians, Canada’s largest public advocacy organization with over 100,000 members. She is a Director with the International Forum on Globalization, a San Francisco based research and educational institution opposed to economic globalization and co-founder of the Blue Planet Project, an international civil society movement to stop the commodification of water. Maude is the recipient of two honorary doctorates – from Memorial University in Newfoundland and the University of Victoria in British Columbia and the best selling author or co-author of 14 books. Her latest books are, Blue Gold, The Battle to Stop Corporate Theft of the World’s Water (Tony Clarke) which has been published in 10 countries and Profit is Not the Cure: A Citizen’s Guide to Saving Medicare.


Accommodations

  • The conference takes place in the core of Jasper at the Mountain Park Lodges. For more information on accommodations, click here.


Location

Situated in the heart of Jasper at the Mountain Park Lodges, conference events take place at the combined locations of:

  • The Amethyst Lodge (sessions, registration desk)
  • The Lobstick Lodge (AGM)
  • The Marmot Lodge (hospitality suites)
  • The Jasper Activity Centre (keynote, banquet)
  • The Pyramid Riding Stables (barbeque)


Registration Desk

  • The registration desk opens at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Located in the lobby of the Amethyst Lodge, it will be open for the duration of the conference. There will be coffee on tap and displays to view.


Opening Reception

  • The reception will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday in the Forest Rooms at the Amethyst Lodge.


Sessions

  • Sessions will take place in the Amethyst Lodge, and are scheduled for Monday morning and afternoon, and Tuesday morning.


Dinner banquet

  • The banquet begins at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Jasper Activity Centre (a 7-minute walk from the Amethyst, 15 from the Lobstick and Marmot). Award presentations will occur during this event.


Hospitality Suites

  • On both Monday and Tuesday night there will be an opportunity to visit with your colleagues during the hospitality suites, starting at 10:00 p.m. and located in the Cabaret Room at the Marmot Lodge. A SILENT AUCTION for the Alberta Public Post-Secondary Education Trust Fund will be located here. Playoff hockey will be accessible for viewing.


ACIFA AGM

  • Following lunch on Tuesday, and is located at the Skyline Room of the Lobstick Lodge.


Recreation Time

  • Prior to the barbeque on Tuesday evening, there will be free time available in the afternoon to take time on your own to enjoy the mountains. Information on local activities will be available at the registration desk.


Barbeque at Pyramid Riding Stables

  • Will start on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at this beautiful setting. Buses will depart from the Amethyst Lodge every 1/2 hour starting at 5:30 p.m. Some parking is also available.
  • A collection of 6 instructors from NAIT make up the band Heartwood, and they will be hosting a JAM SESSION during the evening. All conference attendees are invited to bring an instrument and join in the festivities.

will have a putting green set up for you to test your golfing skill for prizes.
  • Or try out a game of horseshoes.


Wrap-Up Breakfast

  • On Wednesday morning, closing comments will be made at this conference wrap-up breakfast at the Jasper Activity Centre.


Come Early/Stay Late!

  • Based on availability, conference rates are extended to ACIFA delegates for SATURDAY, May 29th and WEDNESDAY, June 2nd .

  • Each conference delegate will receive a conference t-shirt (pick up @ the registration desk).
