Guidelines for ACIFA’s Government Advocacy Activities
ACIFA does not condone imprudent or unethical activity. When undertaking advocacy work with government, the following guidelines will be observed:
| Interest: |  |
Advocacy occurs to advance or protect the interests of faculty. Activity should not occur where faculty have no interests. |
| Honesty: | Information is accurate in content and context. Inaccurate or misrepresented information will not be used. |

| Consultation: | Stakeholders are consulted and informed prior to action. Stakeholders must not be excluded from discussion or surprised by outcomes. |
|
| Non-partisan: | Advocacy focuses on issues and policies. Advocacy should not target specific people or groups. |
|
| Balance: | Activities should generate the most good for the most people. The good of the many should not be sacrificed for the good of the few. |
